Lesson 9
Anti-AI bullies
How to deal with anti-AI bullies.
The hate comes in waves. DMs calling your work "slop," threads accusing you of "cheating," strangers acting like your prompts personally offended them. It's exhausting, but it doesn't have to break you.
Here are five quiet ways I've learned to handle it without losing your spark or feeding the trolls. Remember, their noise says more about their fears than your art.
Remember it's not about you. It's about change. Most hate comes from people scared of the tools shaking up the old rules. Your dragon isn't the problem. It's the reminder that creativity isn't gated anymore. Let it roll off. Focus on the ones who get it.
Turn it into fuel, not fire. When a comment stings, screenshot it (anonymously) and use it as a prompt challenge: "Turn this hate into something beautiful." I've made some of my best pieces that way. It flips the script from victim to creator.
Build your bubble of beasts. Surround yourself with positive spaces. Follow pro-AI accounts, join groups for hybrid creators, curate your feed to amplify wins. The more you see the support, the less the hate echoes.
Respond with grace. If you reply, keep it short and kind: "Thanks for sharing your view. Here's why I love these tools." Often, silence is stronger. Block freely. Your energy is for art, not arguments.
Celebrate the small wins louder. Every like from someone who gets it, every DM saying your piece made their day, hold those close. The hate fades when you measure success by the hearts you touch, not the voices you silence.
Hate is part of any change worth making. But we're the ones building the new worlds. They're just yelling from the sidelines. Keep creating.
