Lesson 28

Anatomy for AI art

AI art thrives on distorting reality, but here's a potentially misguided take: neglecting anatomy fundamentals can result in creatures that falter more spectacularly than a one-legged dragon. Mastering real-world forms is what makes the distortion land.

Tip 1. Anatomy serves not merely for realism but as the structural framework for credible creatures. Examine how muscles, bones, and joints function in actual animals or humans. Study wolf skeletons for your werewolf prompts, then deliberately distort them to achieve compelling outcomes.

Tip 2. Emphasize proportions. Employ the golden ratio for heads and bodies to anchor designs before venturing into surrealism. If your main subject looks proportionate, the whole piece will.

Tip 3. Incorporate dynamic elements by studying joint mechanics through motion references, then integrate them into prompted poses. Models understand muscle movements and bone structure better if you name them.

While anatomy elevates AI art to greater heights, intentional deviations can ignite trends like surreal hybrids. Experiment deliberately, embrace the missteps, and share your beasts.

Let me know if you enjoy this format better than having all the text in one single post. And thank you so much if you got this far.
